Launched on 18th September 2019, The Royal Academy of Music and The Royal Parks have come together to launch a free app so that visitors to Regents Park, London can listen to music as they wander amongst the trees.
There are over 30 species of trees in this Grade 1 listed landscape which include Yew, Hornbean, Walnut, London Plane and Ash and each tree has a musical signature which will change dependent on the characteristics of the tree with overlapping trees creating a layering effect. The app, designed to create awareness of the importance of trees and the benefits they bring, will also provide listeners with information about the different types of tree, the composers and the compositions and the music has been created using a variety of different acoustic percussion instruments.
