A DIVINE ENCORE FOR CREATION

Four years after the success of their debut album 'Light for the World' (which soared to No 5 in the UK Official Album Chart and was also streamed 60 million times) the Poor Clare sisters of Arundel have answered the prayers of millions of listeners worldwide with the release of 'My Peace I Give You', inviting us to live in harmony with everything on Earth.

Whilst the former infused Latin hymns and medieval texts with a modern mix, this new album also brings music from the 13th century back to the mainstream again but carries a strong message of peace for our world and the importance of caring for our planet. It invites listeners on a journey of reflection and connection with the world around us, sharing their ethos of kindness, calm and meditation through music. A time to pause and find solace in moments of introspection, that aid our ever-evolving search for inner peace.

Centering around The Canticle of Creation, written by St Francis of Assisi in 1224, which is divided across seven songs on this 15 track album, the music was recorded at their chapel in West Sussex and then mixed at London's iconic Abbey Road Studios. The album, released by Decca Records, also pairs the teachings of St Clare with St. Francis celebrating peace, forgiveness, healing, patience, and joy. Beginning with biblical texts and transitioning to celebrate the wonder and beauty of the planet, the album underscores the importance of living in harmony with nature and one another.

"In this second album, heartened by the very many responses from all over the world to our first CD, we feel encouraged to share with you something of the peace, forgiveness, healing, patience and joy that Francis and Clare teach us.The biblical texts of the first four songs reflect this journey that we are all on. Songs 5-11are from St Francis's Canticle of Creation, a hymn to the wonder and beauty of our planet, through which he praises God. He sings of Mother Earth, Sister Moon and Brother Sun, inviting us to live in a relationship of harmony and peace with every living creature. Songs 12-14 continue this theme of living with tenderness and care for one another and all creation. Finally, we end the album with St Clare's call to 'go forward, swiftly joyfully on the path of happiness."

Helping others being central to the work of the nuns, the Poor Clares were delighted to donate their profits from sales of their first album to charity, and will continue to do so. The album was released on 24th May 2024. You can see them and hear a clip of one of their new album tracks below:-
