On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me - a Partridge (not) in a Pear tree) .
Under threat from loss of habitat (they prefer farm and grassland to nest in), you can help reverse the decline in our traditional English/Grey Partridges (82% between 1970-1998) by acting on the super-helpful advice on their care on varying habitats, from the RSPB. You can also support the Wildlife Trusts who work closely with farmers and landowners to promote wildlife-friendly practices.
The red-legged (French) Partridges (above right) are imported, factory farmed and bred purely for sport with many cruelly wounded and left to suffer. You can read more and take action against game bird shooting here.
